چکیده
results the k. pneumonia isolates were resistant to erythromycin (70%), cefixime (53.3%), tetracycline (50%) and ceftazidime (36.6%). the amplification of teta and tetb genes of k. pneumonia revealed that all of the isolates harbored these genes. conclusions resistance to tetracycline and other antibiotics, and the presence of various resistance genes in k. pneumonia strains are alarming signs in zabol area. the current study strongly recommends limiting the consumption of antibiotics including tetracycline. further studies should be conducted in order to find out the extent of the problem in other areas. materials and methods in the present cross-sectional study, a total of 30 strains of k. pneumoniae were isolated from urine cultures of hospitalized patients in mir hospital (zabol, south-east of iran) who had urinary tract infections from 2011 to 2012. antibiotic susceptibility of isolates was evaluated for four antibiotics including ceftazidime, cefixime, tetracycline and erythromycin using standard kirby-bauer disk diffusion method. the k. pneumoniae genome was extracted by simple boiling method, and polymerase chain reaction (pcr) method also was used to detect teta and tetb genes by specific pair of primers. background the emergence of antibiotic resistance among clinical and nonclinical bacteria is a global public health problem. klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most pathogens that contains a variety of gens and shows resistance to many antibiotics. perpetual monitoring of the resistant bacteria is an important in order to limit the development of resistance among these pathogens. objectives the current study aimed to monitor the prevalence of teta and tetb resistance genes in klebsiella pneumoniae species isolated from the patients with urinary tract infection who hospitalized in mir hospital of zabol, iran from 2011 to 2012.

Detection of the Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) in K. pneumoniae Isolated from the Clinical Samples by the Phenotypic and Genotypic Methods
Background and Objective: The production of carbapenemases especially Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) is the most important mechanism of enzymatic resistance in isolated Enterobacteriaceae such as K. pneumoniae. The purpose of this study was detected of the carbapenemase producer K. pneumoniae strains with phenotypic and genotypic ...
متن کاملPrevalence of Tetracycline Resistance Genes tet (A, B, C, 39) in Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolated from Tehran, Iran by Multiplex PCR
Background and Objective: Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the three pathogens that has become a global disease control and treatment problem due to its resistance to common antibiotics. For this reason, it is crucial to study the genes that cause antibiotic resistance in it. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the phenotypic and genotypic frequency of tetracycline resistance in ...
متن کاملAntibiotic susceptibility pattern of Klebsiella pneumoniae isolated from urine samples
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are one of the most common infectious diseases (Kolawale et al., 2009; Delanghe et al., 2000; Hryniewicz et al., 2000). They may be symptomatic or asymptomatic, and either type of infection can result in serious sequelae if not appropriately treated (Pezzlo, 1988). Although different causative agents can be responsible for UTIs, bacteria are the major cause being...
متن کاملMultiple Antibiotic Resistance and Esbl Producing Klebsiella Pneumoniae Isolated from Clinical Urine Samples
Klebsiella Pneumoniae is a non-motile gram-negative bacterium that belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae and that has become a well-recognized cause of nosocomial infections. Multi-drug resistance Klebsiella has been recognized as a cause of hospital acquired infections world wide. (Nima et al., 2008; Keynan and Rubinstein, 2007). They cause different kinds of infections, for example, pneumo...
متن کاملDetection of magA Gene in Klebsiella spp. Isolated from Clinical Samples
Objective(s): Klebsiella infections are caused mainly by K. pneumoniae and K. oxytoca. In the last two decades, a new type of invasive Klebsiella pneumoniae which contains mucoviscosity-associated gene (magA) has emerged. The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of magA gene and to detect antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of Klebsiella spp. isolated from clinical samples....
متن کاملPrevalence of Extended-spectrum Beta-lactamases (ESBL) Types blaTEM and blaSHV in Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains Isolated from Clinical Samples by PCR in Miandoab, West Azerbaijan
Background and Objective: Beta-lactamases are the most important factors in the resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics among gram-negative bacteria, especially Klebsiella pneumoniae. Nowadays, the prevalence of infections caused by extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs)-producing K. pneumoniae is increasing, as one of the emerging health problems throughout the world. This study aimed to investi...
